The Anime Market is a group of people who watch and review anime. The group was originally formed in Piedmont Hills High School in San Jose, California as an unofficial club. The majority of their activities consisted of writing reviews for their own amusement. Eventually, they expanded into the internet by creating a website, and they began posting their reviews online. Once the foundation of the group and the website solidified over the years, the Anime Market made an effort to pursue a more community-like environment within the website. The newest redesign of the website does exactly what the group desired, which is for all anime fans to post their own creative, informative and professional anime reviews, and allow their fellow peers to read them. You will find information about each staff member, such as their personal preference in anime and their contact information below.

What Do I Look For In An Anime?

I look for an anime that has decent to breathtaking art. I frown upon any below average quality artwork unless it is purposely done for a specific reason. The story needs to be creative or interesting. If it is an unoriginal piece of work, it better have a likeable and active cast. If there is music, it most certainly needs to be a fitting selection to the genre of the anime.

What Do I Look For In An Anime?

I look for anime with a good plot. Basically, a plot that is not flying all over the place with too many complications; instead, I prefer a simple and straightforward story. The story needs to be original and refreshing, and not overly repetitive or mediocre. If it lacks originality, the characters better be fun and interesting. As long as I can respond to a character through hate or love, I am happy. I like to see animations that are nicely drawn; nothing that looks like something I can draw. The music has to go well with the anime. For example, a futuristic science-fiction drama should not have happy-hyper music from some cute anime kid show unless there is a deep or mental reason behind it.

What Do I Look For In An Anime?

The anime must have a plot with meaning. In other words, if it does not make any sense and its only purpose is to leave me utterly confused, I am not going to be happy. In addition, there must be an ending that draws an absolute conclusion, or else I will not be satisfied with the anime as a whole. The music must help the plot flow fluidly. Basically, the music has to make sense with the mood or genre of the anime. The characters need to bring relevance and serve a purpose to the story. In art, my taste is brutish, so it can be stick figures for all I care.

What Do I Look For In An Anime?

In most anime, I look for a story with depth. For example, the plot needs to make sense with few if any complications. The characters need to be active and engaging. I expect the art to be drawn well or at least better than any thing I can draw. Finally, if the music is out of place, I will become annoyed at best. Overall, the anime should be like flowing wate; not conflicting ripples in a pond.

What Do I Look For In An Anime?

Mainly, I look for unique characters with multi-faceted personalities with cute or kick-ass appearances. The animation quality may vary, but my main focus is the quality and uniqueness of the story. The opening theme and ending theme should be catchy and give resolution respectively. The original sound track or background music should accentuate the mood of the specific scene.
